Mini review of television adaptation of Henry Farrell’s book on FX.

Eager to pick this up after watching FX's Feud , a miniseries based on the long-standing enmity between the legends of old Hollywood- Joan Crawford and Bette Davis- that culminates on the sets of their one and only movie together- Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? The show is a woeful depiction of women in Hollywood over a certain age, where they have to battle ageism and sexism, and how stardom affects their self-worth. It's infuriating to see how the studio executives, gossip columnists and the director of the movie got together to instigate the rivarly between the two just to increase the buzz around the movie and jack-up the ticket sales , and how these women, who were equally desperate and insecure , fell into the trap. With marvellous by Jessica Lange as Crawford and Susan Sarandon as Davis, the show will upset you but will leave you with hope that things will and have changed since then. The show is definitely a must watch!
